Weird West gets zombie apocalypse mode and reveals update roadmap

The dead are coming out of their graves in Weird West, so of course that means cowboys need to get involved. The immersive top-down simulator already thrives on its blend of supernatural and wild west influences, so adding a zombie apocalypse mode is right up your street.

A new trailer from developer WolfEye Studios and publisher Devolver Digital showcased the game’s first major content update, as well as some details on plans for the future. And the first is the Plague community event.

The YouTube video description reads: “Reports are rolling in from across Weird West of a plague of the undead rising from the grave! Worse, a terrible disease seems to be following in its wake. Watch out, travelers.” This is a limited time event, mind you, so you’d better dig in if you’re interested in eating your brains. An acquired taste.

The undead are wild. You’ll need to use your arsenal along with the game’s environment to make sure you’re up to the task of sending them back to hell. Although the trailer is short and sweet, there’s a whole collection of situations you’ll face. From parlor fights to stealthy outdoor excursions, there seems to be plenty of fun. If you haven’t read our thoughts on Weird West, our review details everything you need to know.

The trailer ends with a little look at future content set up for Weird West as well. A content pack, ‘impossible mode’, caged event and mods are in the near future for the game, with a hint that updates will continue beyond these plans. All these updates are considered free, so there may also be paid DLC in the future.
