There’s a fix for Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga insisting on a 60 fps cap

Thanks to PCGamesNWe now have a fix for one of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s few graphical issues: its stubborn insistence on defaulting to a 60fps cap when starting the game or Alt+Tab, no matter what you set in the game’s menus.

To ensure your preferred frame rate limit doesn’t just change when you’re not looking, follow these steps:

  • Enable “show hidden folders” in Windows Explorer if you haven’t already
  • Navigate to C:/Users/[your name]/AppData/Roaming/Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment/LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga/PCCONFIG.txt
  • Ctrl + F “ScreenRefreshRate” and change the value to your desired fps threshold

With these steps completed, the game should launch and maintain the desired frame rate limit. PCGamesN’s main concern was for the game to revert back to 60fps on Alt+Tab, but I found that this fix also addressed my issue of the game having 60fps at launch, requiring an options menu adjustment every time I wanted to play.

Perhaps it is not the biggest difficulty that a human being can face, having to adjust some menu options to go beyond 60 fps. After all, our distant ancestors had to deal with 720p 30 fps in Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition in earlier times. Still, if you’re one of the elect with a high refresh rate monitor, you’re going to want every one of those precious frames. I know I do.
