“Embrace your transformation on June 16th” reads the first line of EA’s promo page for the upcoming Sims 4 add-on, simply titled “werewolves (opens in new tab)“Is this expansion going to leave you howling like a wolf?”
Okay, it’s easy to get discouraged here because I’m not exactly feeling the call of the full moon, but this feels like a pretty substantial expansion for The Sims 4. Werewolves adds a new lycanthropy system with its own rules and quirks, and promises some substantial gameplay options. interpretation for your little wolf. “Create your werewolf identity. Were you bitten or were you born into a werewolf family? Either way, now you have to decide what kind of wolf you want to be.” I’m a nice wolf who’s good at fighting but doesn’t make a big deal out of it.
Werewolves is also bringing folklore to the table: “There’s a lot to learn about werewolves and their origins,” states the overview. “Unravel the lore of werewolves, vampires and spellcasters as you read books, discover secret tunnels, grow your collection and interact with the inhabitants of Moonwood Mill.”
I’m a knowledge sucker myself, and find myself strangely enamored with the expansion’s “Camp Crystal Lake, but make it quirky” aesthetic. We’ll find out if Sim werewolves bark in Simlish on June 16th.
