Roller Champions, Ubisoft’s Rocket League-meets-roller derby game, is delayed again

Ubisoft’s upcoming roller-derby-meets-Rocket-League game Roller Champions has been delayed. Ubi said last year that Roller Champions would come out in its 2022-23 fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2022, but a message posted on Discord server says it will need a little more time.

“After evaluating all possible scenarios, the team concluded that they will need a little more time to deliver the successful game you deserve,” the message states. “We believe it is the right decision to properly honor your excitement (and ours!)

“We are working hard to make the wait worth your trust in Roller Champions as the game is getting closer to launch every day. We know that many of you have been following the game’s development for some time and to show our appreciation for your continued support , we wanted to make sure you got this news first: Roller Champions will be released in late spring.”

Roller Champions looked like a potential winner when we first reviewed it in mid-2019. It didn’t take Phil more than two games to make an enemy during your preview time with the game, and that in itself is intriguing, but it has encountered some blockers since: scheduled release in 2021 didn’t happen, and while a closed beta took place earlier that year, we haven’t really heard much about it since. We hope the relatively short duration of this delay means it will be the last.

Interestingly, the announcement of the delay has yet to appear on the Roller Champions website or social media channels. I’ve contacted Ubisoft for confirmation and will update if I get a response.

Thanks, video gamer.
