Shadow of Morrowind started out as a mod for old version of Skyrim in 2013, adding the entirety of Morrowind – not just the part we explored in The Elder Scrolls 3, which was primarily the island of Vvardenfell, but the entire province – as it would be during the Skyrim period. That’s 200 years and a few changes later, after the eruption of Red Mountain and various other disasters. It’s a very different place.
Unfortunately, the original version of Shadow of Morrowind hasn’t been updated since 2014, and while the latest Beyond Skyrim Mod Plans to Cover Morrowind eventually, Shadow of Morrowind was revived thanks to modders named Morrigan and iHurting porting it to Skyrim Special Edition. you can download Shadow of Morrowind SE by NexusMods.
The current version is version 0.1 and includes Vvardenfell and the western part of the continent. There are no quests yet, and the absence of navmesh will make followers and other NPCs act strangely, but the space itself is there and can be reached by boat from Solstheim or by land via Dunmeth Pass, east of Windhelm.
The Shadow of Morrowind Special Edition team is looking for modders to help expand the project, saying that “while a full Morrowind might be a ways off, we hope to bring in new releases regularly so you can see our progress.” Some parts of the Morrowind version seen in The Elder Scrolls Online will be integrated, and on the matter, the team notes that while “we don’t intend to directly contradict any established lore, we can’t promise that our version of 4E Morrowind will be the same as yours – so keep an open mind and if you really hate it, trust in Kirkbride: contradiction is the canon.”
Meanwhile, Skywind, the mod that recreates The Elder Scrolls 3 in Skyrim, seems to still be on its way. here is one Last year’s Creation Mod Con tour in December. To learn more, here are our recently updated lists of best skyrim mods and the best Skyrim Special Edition mods.
