Returnal could be the next PlayStation exclusive on the way to PC

Housemarque’s Returnal could be the next PlayStation exclusive to hit PC, if a mysterious Steam roster is anything to go by.

The entry appeared in SteamDB (opens in new tab) this morning (May 26), codenamed Oregon (thanks, Radar Games (opens in new tab)). While it cannot be 100% confirmed that this is indeed the Return, some pretty big clues point to it being the most likely scenario.

The list of changes shows tags like bullet hell, sci-fi, female protagonist, and roguelike – pretty much summarizing what Returnal is all about. Most convincingly, there are location entries relating to the Tower of Sisyphus, Atropos, and Helios. The first two are areas of the game, the last being the name of a ship.

It’s always best to never bet too much on rumors and speculation, but the evidence seems pretty strong here. Add to that the dough Nvidia GeForce leak (opens in new tab) who spilled the beans in a tonne of the upcoming PC games – one of which being Returnal – and looks increasingly likely.

We’re getting a steady stream of PlayStation exclusives heading to Steam and the Epic Games Store, with Sony boss Jim Ryan promising “a whole slate” (opens in new tab) of games being ported. The developer-slash-editor also expects to have around a quarter of its games on PC by 2025 and hopes to win staggering $300 million (opens in new tab) of PC game sales next year.
