Galax’s GeForce RTX 3090 Ti HOF smiles at the camera

O GeForce RTX 3090 Ti (opens in new tab) it’s an absolute beast, but the designs currently available seem almost mid-range when compared to Galax’s upcoming GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Hall of Fame OC Lab Edition.

The photos were posted by the Japanese overclocker OC duck (opens in new tab) (by TechPowerUp (opens in new tab)). The Hall of Fame series is Galax’s premier graphics card series. It features compartmentalized GPUs and custom PCBs designed for extreme overclocking. As if anyone doubted it after seeing that powerful design! White coloring is a hallmark of HOF cards.

The board has two 12-pin ATX 3.0 power connectors. Each is capable of delivering up to 600W, which means the card has over 1200W of power on tap. The board is believed to come with a default power cap of 516W, although there will certainly be extreme OC BIOSes capable of pushing much more than that through the board.

It comes in a 24+4 VRM design and is configured to ship with a custom water block. Given that the card can draw so much power even in stock, this isn’t a surprise. Add in 24GB of hot running GDDR6X memory and all those MOSFETs and it’s no wonder Galax decided to skip air cooling in favor of a water block.

Pricing and availability of the card has yet to be revealed. If we had to guess, it’s certainly going to be one of the more expensive 3090 Ti, which means a price tag close to $3,000 isn’t out of the question. We can expect overclockers like Duck to start posting world records in the coming days and weeks.

There is speculation that next-gen AD102 GPUs will be pin to pin compatible (opens in new tab) with current GA102 supporting PCBs. This means that very high spec PCBs like the one in the Galax HOF will likely be ported to the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 class boards with little to no modification.

Perhaps that 1200W of possible power supply will stand out when we look at enthusiast-grade RTX 4080 and 4090-class cards? Those ones RTX-40 series power consumption rumors (opens in new tab) it just won’t go away. If a single 600W power connector isn’t enough, how much will a 4080 or 4090 consume? We’ll find out later this year.
