Fortnite Raised $36 Million for Ukraine Aid in Less Than 48 Hours

Epic Games and Microsoft managed to raise an impressive $36 million in less than 48 hours, which will go towards humanitarian aid in Ukraine.

On the weekend, both companies have committed that proceeds from any real money purchases made in Fortnite between March 20 and April 3 would go to a selection of relief funds: Direct Relief, UNICEF, UNWFP and the UN Refugee Agency. More organizations will also be added to the list “in the coming weeks”. It’s proven to be the perfect time to make the pledge. Chapter 3 Season 2 also landed on March 20th, which means players are already showing up in droves to grab the latest battle pass and new cosmetics.

On a news postEpic said it would send the funds “as soon as possible”, adding that it would not wait for actual donation transactions to be fully processed before sending them to charities.

“As transactions are reported, we will record them and send the funds to relief organizations within days,” the post read.

It marks yet another gaming industry figure backing Ukraine, which has been under continuous Russian invasion since February 24. for Ukraine and its people. A huge package from the indie showcase raised $6.3 millionwhile humble”stay with ukraine” package reached more than $10 million.

Considering that Epic and Xbox are still promising just over two weeks of profits for Ukraine, I’m sure the final number will be pretty impressive. Things will likely slow down a bit after the first few days of the new season, but I’m looking forward to seeing how much money will be raised by the end.
