Forever Skies is a post-apocalyptic survival game with an airship as a base

Post-apocalyptic first-person survival is good and fun, but why spend it digging around the base of crumbling, earth-covered cities when you could be flying? Forever Skies will take you above the end of the Earth when it launches into early access this year, putting the controls of a customizable airship in your survival gloves.

Forever Skies revealed an extended gameplay trailer during the Future Games Show Spring Showfollowing its protagonist: “a lone scientist, desperately searching for answers after an ecological disaster in which civilization, as we know it on Earth, was completely destroyed”.

In the new trailer, you can pick up a little bit of survival in a post-climate-crisis world: sailing an airship to dock precariously atop shattered skyscrapers, collect canned food, and scavenge for samples of virus strains to create a cure for the disease. remainder of humanity stranded above in orbit.

Don’t miss the little bit of base building, the best part of any survival game, for my money. In the new trailer, there’s a quick look at the menu, including stairs, walkways, and airship balloon sizes. However, if you are good at building bases, you can get more details at previous posts from the developer Far From Home, including filling rooms with decor like plants or posters, or more practical survival needs like a food maker, H20 purifiers, and refrigerators.

The new trailer also has some atmospheric action, showing some nasty storms that will crash over the city and your airship, causing damage that you’ll need to repair with nanobots.

Another important part I almost forgot is Far From Home’s mention that “four-player co-op will be included shortly after launch”. When it comes to base-building and survival games, co-op is a big personal selling point. I’m certainly not going to say no to eventually piloting my cozy blimp through the desolate cityscapes with a friend along for the ride.

Forever Skies will initially be released in early access on Steam at the end of 2022 where you can wishlist it until then.
