Elden Ring Mod turns the game’s first merchant into a one-stop shop

Merchant Kale is the first NPC you meet in Elden Ring who sells stuff: he’s the guy you meet north of Limgrave’s place of bounty. Kale obviously sells low-level items, and later on you can learn a gesture for him, and there’s not much reason to return to him later – so far, that is.

One small frustration I had with Elden Ring was getting to a relatively late stage without a bunch of low-level weapon crafting and upgrading items. That meant I had to look up how to grind these things or how to get the proper bell bearing for traders to sell them.

Clearly something along these lines has happened to modder Vawser, who has grown tired of Elden Ring’s parsimonious ways, and has now released the Grand Trader mod. This “grants easy access to all items via Merchant Kale, similar to DS3’s Honest Merchant. Everything can be crafted for free.” It will also allow you to obtain spells and gestures from Kale.

Needless to say, this is a mod designed to experiment and play around with offline play: item duplication or anything that seems to result in a quick ban if you try to start doing it online. So give up the idea of friends, basically, and you can stuff your boots: perfect for a Spirit Ash run.

The Elden Ring mod scene is slowly kicking in, with projects becoming more ambitious (like one for continued cooperation across the In-Between Lands), chaotic (enemy randomizer mod) and in some cases just plain funny (Spotted with cat ears). Most will require a little manipulation of the game’s anti-cheat software and some caution about online usage, all of which we explain in our best Elden Ring mods guide.
