The Elden Ring mod scene got off to a promising start. After weeks of simple reskins and minor technical fixes appearing in Nexus Mods, we are starting to see mods that significantly transform the game. Modder Matt Gruen is one of the creators at the forefront, so far releasing an extensive key item randomizer mod. His next project is a randomizer for enemies, and it looks like a doozy.
Gruen shared a preview of the enemy randomizer on Twitter, demonstrating its chaotic potential when entering Margit, the boss fight from The Fell Omen, and instead encountering Starscourge Radahn, a mid-game boss that must be fought once the game is over. player has (at least) boosted their Stamina a little. Not only does Radahn hit incredibly hard compared to Margit, but his intrusion on the bridge outside Stormveil Castle is a spacing nightmare.

Radahn is typically fought on a large expanse of flat sand at the eastern end of Caelid. He enjoys slipping and sliding on a comically small horse while swinging his swords in great sweeping arcs. He’s not that hard to keep away from on open sand, but on a tight bridge, you basically have to dodge perfectly or take the hit. Frankly, I’m impressed that the fight still works in a small arena. It’s unclear if Gruen had to modify any of Radahn’s behaviors to make him work properly (his meteoric re-entry attack even works as intended). In that case, getting the other hundred Elden Ring bosses to work in random locations can be quite an undertaking.
Radahn is certainly not one of the first bosses I would want to fight in Elden Ring, but the randomizer could have been even crueler and replaced in malenia rather than. Gruen didn’t mention an exact release date for the Elden Ring enemy randomizer, but a version that combines it and the item randomizer is coming “soon”.
