EA Officially Reveals Jedi: Fallen Order Sequel

EA has finally revealed the alleged sequel to 2019’s Jedi: Fallen Order, the most hard-hitting name Jedi Survivor (opens in new tab)arriving sometime in 2023.

Developed by the same team at Respawn as Fallen Order, Jedi Survivor picks up five years after the events of the first game, which ended with Cal on the run from Darth Vader after sabotaging an Imperial plot. This timeskip will see a rougher, lantern-jawed Jedi Cal at the height of the Empire’s power.

Jedi Survivor pre-rendered trailer (opens in new tab) shows Cal pondering somebody floating in a bacta tank, interspersed with lightsaber combat fire and a view of your ship, the Praise God, fell into a desert world. ONE pau’an (opens in new tab) The narrator reflects on the hopelessness of Cal’s situation as he wonders what his next move will be.

On PC Gamer review (opens in new tab) of Fallen Order, Tom Senior liked the game’s Star Wars vibe and Soulslike combat, but was less impressed by its technical weaknesses on PC. Hopefully Respawn can solve these issues while expanding on the combat and exploration that worked so well.

EA’s press release states that “millions of Star Wars fans have been captivated by the Cal Kestis story”, and I’m a little leery of the claim. Lime like an idiot (opens in new tab)? Just a white guy with a lightsaber. At least Shadows of the Empire dash render (opens in new tab) mixed in a little weirdness of the ’90s Rob Liefeld muscle guy with his imitation of Han Solo schtick, and even a cup of hot water Jaden Korr (opens in new tab) from Jedi Academy could be customized so that a Rodian would deliver the character’s sleepy dialogue. Respawn: Please give this annoying kid some advantage.
