Doom Eternal update finally fixes a 2-year-old bug

Eternal Destiny just received a little review for its 6.66 update, adding a handful of accessibility features, general quality of life, and finally fixing one of its most frustrating bugs.

Balances have been made to the Battlemode 2.0 classes, with a small nerf to Slayer and some buffs to Revenant and Archvile. The patch eliminated some bugs, perhaps the most important of which is a long-awaited fix for the Argentas Paladi milestone. It is the default final milestone in the game and should be unlocked once all other achievements have been earned, awarding players with a Slayer podium and an in-game icon. It’s been buggy since the game’s March 2020 release, mostly refusing to randomly unlock or unlock early. It should now work as intended, with id Software writing in the notes: “thank you all for your amazing patience with this one!”

Shooter multiplayer now has text-to-speech and speech-to-text capabilities. There are a handful of different voices to choose from, with any text written in the chat window being displayed in yellow when converted to speech. Everyone in a lobby will be able to hear any text-to-speech, while only your teammates will be able to hear anything said during matches. Players can also use speech to text to transcribe anything said in the chat box. While text-to-speech is original language only, speech-to-text can use chat translation function to display the message in different languages.

There’s also a new contrast filter option, which can reduce how quickly the screen’s brightness changes throughout the game. It has a few different sliders, like changing the brightness speed per pixel for things like explosions or changing the overall screen speed. Along with the accessibility features, some quality of life adjustments were made. You can now use a melee attack to interrupt the reload animation in a full auto combat shotgun mod, while the cacodemon received a speed nerf on the two easiest difficulties.
