Dungeons & Dragons is promising a “full” show this week as the D&D Direct returns on April 21, 2022 at 9 am PT (5 pm BST). The show will address everything that’s happening in the world of D&D, both in 2022 and beyond, featuring “books, video games, entertainment, and more.”
It is almost certain that Baldur’s Gate 3 will appear at some point, maybe sometime Dark Alliance 2, and probably more, like that third-person open-world game that Hidden Path Entertainment is developing. Expect the upcoming D&D adventure anthology Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel to feature prominently.
Hasbro, the parent company of Wizards of the Coast, is licensing D&D and has recently made a big investment in the brand by shopping the officially licensed online D&D platform D&D Beyond worth $146 million, bringing D&D’s primary digital presence in-house. Rumors surrounding this acquisition say it’s a sign of a more digitally enabled future of D&D, as playing D&D on your PC gets more popular every year.
