We finally got a good look at Stray, the third-person (well, third-cat) cyberpunk adventure game from BlueTwelve Studio and Annapurrrrna Interactive at Sony’s State of Play presentation. And it looks stellar as you guide a stray cat through a dark and dangerous city filled with neon, trying to solve an ancient mystery and avoid hostile drones and other dangers.
Even better, we have a release date for Stray. While we knew it would be released sometime this summer, Sony finally got it for us. Stray will be released on Steam on July 19th.
Take a look at some gameplay below. It’s bound to make your whiskers twitch.
The trailer is brief, but we can see the cat navigating dark alleys, subway stations, and sewer systems. Interestingly, the local robotic residents seem quite upset to see a cat walking towards them: one sets off an alarm before fleeing, and others slam doors and disappear around corners. Why are they so worried about a stray cat?
The world looks beautifully detailed, and it’s nice to see that not everyone hates cats. We see an encounter with a friendly cyborg, at least, who gives the kitty a ride on a boat. Cyber maggots in the sewer look much more hostile. You can visit Stray’s Steam page here (opens in new tab).
