Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Anime Series Coming to Netflix Looks Really Good

As part of the Geeked Week festivities, Netflix has just teased Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime series produced by Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red and Japanese animator Studio Trigger. First announced in 2020, Edgerunners is a 10-episode series about a street kid from Night City who becomes an outlaw – in other words, a cyberpunk.

The teaser is only about a minute long, but there’s still plenty to see, including some fantastic stills of Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City in anime form, weapon combat and cyberware, a good look at various characters, plus an impressive score. . It also offers a release window – Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will be released on Netflix in September.

While I’m not personally a fan of anime or even much of Cyberpunk itself, this still looks pretty good. Studio Trigger co-founder Hiroyuki Imaishi (known for Gurren Lagann, Kill La Kill and the 2019 film Promare) directed the series. The score is by Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame.
