Crusader Kings 3’s Next DLC Will Spice Up Spain

following the flesh real cut expansion, which allows Crusader Kings 3’s monarchs to rule from within a customizable throne room and create entirely new cultures with all sorts of game-changing features, Paradox has turned its attention to Spain and Portugal with the Fate of Iberia flavors.

The flavor pack implies something cosmetic and not particularly essential, but like the Northern Lords DLC, Fate of Iberia is more than just a bunch of new character art and unit designs. That’s also included, of course, but it’s on top of the new fighting system, a couple of additional dynastic legacies to pursue, more Iberian-specific cultural traditions, and additional dynamic events.

The announcement doesn’t go into much detail regarding the new fighting system, but it will apparently detail “the unique historical circumstances that typify regions that have been centers of conflict.” Therefore, it does not seem exclusive to dynasties that live in the Iberian Peninsula, although it is a region where it fits very well. “In Fate of Iberia, players will have new tools to deal with the particular situation of the region, with rival claims and personal grudges taking center stage amidst the vibrant cultural mosaic of medieval Spain.”

Northern Lords has done wonders for the Viking experience, which I thought was sold out in CK2 and 3, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we have something of the same quality here.

If you’d rather not shell out any more DLC, as usual its release will also be accompanied by a free update that includes some of its features, including a new faction type, heads of faith that can be shared across multiple religions, and a new match marker that shows some of the most interesting characters involved in the fight for Iberia.

Fate of Iberia will be released on May 31st.
