I have only been looking at your site for about ten to fifteen minutes and felt compelled to send you a message to say "Thank you for not sucking". There's plenty of "Free Stuff" websites out there who simply spill out as much text as they can to maximize banner ad returns. It would appear that you are actually checking to see if this software is worth using in the real world. I have a certain appreciation of free software and often take note of authors [or utilities] I feel have done an exceptional job.
Thank you! Dave
I just wanted to let you guys over there managing this site, my appreciation and thanks at a wonderful job and service that you are providing to the whole World. Thank you, and God bless.
Sincerely, Sam.
I must say this is one of the best freeware sites around. Easy to find what you are looking for with quality apps. Very good to be able to see user comments as well. Nowadays freeware are becoming as-good-as or better in some cases (lower on system resources etc) then expensive commercial software products.
Please keep up the good work with this clean site. You are showing the way to go, when Internet keeps on getting more and more bloated.
Christian
Thanks for all, you are the best site in net

Thanks for a great job well done! this site really helped me find the best utilities for most of my security.

I've been a visitor to your website for a number of years with it becoming one of my main resources for freeware. I just wanted to comment that the changes that have come about in the last year and the recent site redesign have turned this from an already great site to an awesome website. Thanks for all of the effort that you all put into this.
Janet
My computer life would really suck without this site, so thank you very much for this site. IT'S WAY AWESOME. I usually find exactly what I'm looking for.

I like the site fine, but the caption item for having a password re-sent sucks
and I mean BIG-TIME. I've just had about 30 attempts, and there's nothing wrong
with my eye-sight. At the moment steam is coming out of my ears. If you want a model for how this thing should be handled, check out ASHAMPOO. The whole thing
takes about 60 secnds !
Can ANYONE assist ? I've just suffered 2 Windows wipeouts in 3 weeks, and with no
back-up( head hung low ) I'm trying to restore my system to some sort of normality. In particular, I'm trying to access the link Gizmo set up to download
the full SUPPORT ALERT Archive.

Gizmo, time, when last was added, post should get revamped. When I take a look, it shows last page 3 minutes ago. If i take a peek 5 minutes later, it stil shows 2 minutes. only when a new post is added, is last post changed.
guys, sorry... but I'm around the site to try to make a suggestion but I'm not able to create the account and bla, bla, bla...
anyhow, here is my small contribution:
Notebook Hardware Control
http://www.pbus-167.com/

Dear Gizmo,
I tried your site, searching for something specific: a HIP. I downloaded the one you suggested. sir, of course it was free. but guess what came with it: a free Trojan virus!!! it's description is trojan-downloader.zlob and it installed itself on my best security!!! thank heaven i have more than one security program, becaused if i didn't, i'd be doomed. i used my spyware doctor 6.0 with antivirus starter edition (this is free) and it detected the trojan right away (unlike my other EXPENSIVE security!!!) the HIP that came with the trojan was called Threat Fire. DO NOT download this product (if you are getting the free version) Mr. Gizmo, i suggest you download the Spyware Doctor with antivirus Starter's Addition to get rid of your trojan. Her'es the link:http:
//www.vnunet.com/vnunet/downloads/2212453/spyware-doctor-antivirus
just copy the link and paste it in your search box (the thing that shows the urls of sites that your on) when you get to the site download the spyware doctor. from there, run the program and click smart update to get the most current version.
There is absolutely no trojan in Threatfire - it's a highly reputable security program. You are getting a false positive from Spyware Doctor.
Good site but there's always room for improvement.
Pros:
1. Very few (around 7 or so [W3C markup validator]) markup errors
2. Great list of freeware that are useful for newbies as well as experienced users
3. User-friendly. Comparisons are especially helpful when trying a new program or finding the ideal program for individual needs.
4. Search is very inclusive and finds what I need quickly
Cons:
1. Navigation. Only 2 navigation buttons up at top? Surely you could utilize the space better (the space won't look cluttered if it is arranged neatly). The navigation buttons at the top stand out more so they could be used as general links (i.e. "Home", "About", etc.).
Floating Navigation Menu Box! It's very helpful when users don't have to scroll up or press the home key to get to another link
2. Organization. Most of the articles are fine but the page that contains links to individual articles are just ugh... too much underlined, blue text for my tastes.
Use different colors, pictures, gifs, spacers, bullet points, anything but please do something! It's hard on the eyes :-/
3. Again organization. It would very helpful for there to be more categories than just the number of Hits.
4. Aesthetics. Yeah it's optional but just in case you're bored :-p
There were other small details that I wanted to address but I can't remember them all.
But anyways, great site guys! keep up the good work!
Thanks for the well thought through comments; they have been taken on board.
Incidentally, the top navigation tabs have been reserved for Mac, Linux and Server freeware which will be added to this site in the future.
Hi just wanted to say thanks,my computer had become so sluggish it realy used to drive me mad. I had Virgin pc Guard installed. since finding your site I got rid of it and following the tips and advice my machine has improved so much.I,ve installed Comodo security which combines the firewall+ antivirus & Comodo reg cleaner wow what a difference.have now used the smart defrag as well.
thanks again Barry
Great, helpful site. Some articles are out of date, but I suppose it can't be helped. A suggestion for a category, if I may add one?
A Windows Customization section. For all those who like to customize their Boot Screens and so on. :)
I've been visiting this site since the Gizmo newsletter went away but recently a lot of the new articles are by people I don't know of and some of them I feel like I just can't trust. Many contradict the specifications that you used to judge a program by and I find it a bit sloppy.
I understand your only one guy Gizmo but I feel like we should have assurance that these new authors are qualified to post on this site.
I understand where you are coming from but a site this size cannot be maintained by a single individual like me. That's why it is now a community effort.
Hello Gizmos! I love your graphics and design. Very soothing! I thought your visitors may be interested in a gadget that i created. StretchClock is designed to help computer users avoid back, neck, shoulder, and wrist pain. Anyone who uses a computer for more than an hour should have a quick reminder to stretch. Anyway, it's totally free and fun: www.stretchclock.com/stretch
Thanks again for the cool site,

Congratulations you have software that i spend years to discover.
One suggestion is to put infrarecord in CD/DVD burners.
Hi Dave:
I am new to your service and am finding it very useful. Recently, like a lot of people, I have been having nitemares with AVG FREE. Following advice from your site and others in the AVG forum has been unfruitful. So, I checked your list of best free antiviral programs, and picked the top pick, ANTIVIR, and I couldn't be happier.... So long AVG!
I have been looking for free fax services available for download. Are there such services? If so, may I suggest a column or post on your best picks?
Yes, I am liking the new interface and organization of Gizmo's picks. It is coming together well.
Thanks for everything else, that you have unknowingly helped me with.
Mike
this site is just amazing... kudos to your team for doing such a great job.
hi Dave

I have been visiting this site for several years and has provided valuable information in choosing freeware applications.I would also like to thank Gizmo for releasing the old techsupport news letteters for free viewing.Thank you for putting up a great web site like this.
Great site, lots of useful information!!!
However I did want to mention that you have a bad link for the 'Understanding CRM" pdf ... it is a duplicate of the topic below the CRM selection.
Thanks for all your efforts on this site, very much appreciated!
Great site.
This is certainly of one the best site for software apps!! Fast and simple to browse. Love it!
I do have one suggestion that I find would be useful. Under Programming tools, we can have a best diff tool. As a programmer, I always wonder what's the best diff tool out there.
