sound not working

my pc is a new one and although all the drivers are working the sound does not seem to work.
I've tried adjusting it from the control panel but it is all greyed out and no changes can be made there. Can someone help please....
Uninstall the sound driver than restart the computer , and then reinstall the driver , most probably it will work.
