I need a freeware program that can convert MTS files into MPEG4 files...

I just recently bought a Sony HRD-SR11 and Sony camcorders only record in MTS format, in order for me to edit my videos I need to find a freeware video converter that will convert MTS files into (perferably) MPEG4 files. I have been looking for an online converter and have found a couple but they do not support MTS files. I have only found one converter that supports MTS files but I would have to pay for it in order to download the full version. Any suggestions?

do you still have the software they gave you? You should be able to export it as a common video format.
